Applying for College!

By: Marina Khachatryan '24

Seniors, it’s time to turn in your college applications! Deadlines are approaching as all UC and CSU applications are due by the end of November, common apps are due by early January, and others are due before February. Put your heart into your personal statements as college admissions want to see you write a story about overcoming personal challenges to make sure you have what it takes to tackle university work. If your GPA (Grade Point Average) isn’t as high as you would like, focus on work outside of school to demonstrate that you have experience working in environments that aren’t academic.

Make sure to write up a brag sheet so you ask teachers for recommendation letters. Scholarships like Questbridge and CocaCola are also all open now, so apply for the chance to have money go towards your tuition. Get in some last volunteering hours or club work, to make your application as strong as can be, or even start fundraising for a non-profit. These upcoming months are the most crucial for seniors, so do your best, tell your story, put yourself out there, and hope for the best.
