On Friday, September 27th, there was a pep rally at Sherman Oaks CES during 4th period. It was the first exciting pep rally of the school year, and was hosted by ASB. First off, all the athletes from Fall sports were introduced. This included volleyball, football, cheer, track, flag football, and tennis. Athletes were excited to run out and celebrate their team in front of the entire high school.
Then the Cheer team performed an excellent routine, and all the girls did a great job hitting their marks wonderfully. After the Cheer performance they turned off all the lights in the gym and had a sing along. At that moment, all the students illuminated the room with their phone flashlights. It was fun to see everyone engaging and creating such a memorable moment! To many students’ shock they played FE!N by Travis Scott and Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar. The crowd went wild and everyone was so excited! As soon as the song started playing, students were singing along and dancing with the tune.
Afterwards, sports teams and teachers played some games. One game that they played was Tug of War with some of the teachers that attended that pep rally. It was teachers vs teachers, and it was fun to see them participating. Right after it was time for the football team vs cheer team, which caused so much excitement. However, as soon as they started tugging, the rope snapped! Many of them fell on the floor, but everyone was safe. They continued playing interesting games with balloons and musical chairs. Every game was intense and very fun to watch.
Lastly, to end the Pep Rally everyone was invited to the floor from the bleachers to dance a traditional dance in the hispanic community named El Caballo Dorado. This translates in English to line dance or elected slide. Overall, the September 27th Pep Rally was very exciting, fun, and a great way to honor Fall sport teams!
