Halloween Carnival 2023

By: Sophie Kundel

On October 31, SOCES had the annual Halloween carnival to celebrate Halloween. Since this holiday is after school, SOCES Leadership wanted to Organize a fun event during school, to commemorate students’ Halloween experiences.

The Halloween Carnival consists of all the clubs at SOCES setting up a booth with their own unique games, giving out candy to students who play their games! They originally planned to organize the Halloween Carnival for our 4th and 5th graders but with all grades having clubs it slowly turned into a tradition for the whole school.

The carnival took place at the school garden, and all clubs set up different DIY and makeshift carnival games with candy as prizes. Elementary school kids dressed up in their costumes with goodie bags and collected candy. There were festivities and decorations everywhere that leadership was behind, making it look fun and exciting for all the kids, setting them in the Halloween spirit and preparing for the trick-or-treating in the evening.

This carnival was held during period 3 for the 4th graders and period 4 for the 5th graders. Since the majority of high school classes are the ones owning the clubs, many other friends joined in, either by helping out with the club or just joining in to play the games they had set up earlier. All of this effort was greatly appreciated by the elementary schoolers, and they had a great time. All the setups were happening during nutrition so Leadership had to work fast to help set up.

A student at the halloween carnival had said “There were many fun activities set up and it was amazing how all the clubs came together just for a school activity.” As the carnival went on and all the kids were collecting their candy, the kids were playing the games so well that everyone running club booths was running out of candy to give out at the end of the event. The Halloween carnival marked another amazing experience for both students and clubs, and many students look forward to it next year!
