Kindness Week 2023

Last week SOCES celebrated kindness week through multiple challenges throughout the week. These challenges consisted of things like complimenting 5 people, being thankful, or saying good morning, all meant to promote kindness in SOCES. The driving force behind the event was Ms. Hall, SOCES very own intervention coordinator. When asked what change she hoped kindness week would make she answered “ I hope students at SOCES realize what a small bit of kindness can positively affect someone's day”. Ms. Hall did not organize this event alone as she received help from parents and other administrators. The week culminated on Thursday morning where All students were given shirts during advisory, promoting SOCES’s kindness week, and gathered at center circle. A drone flew up and took a picture of SOCES celebrating its kindness week. Ms. Hall stated that this was her favorite part of the entire week as SOCES has not been able to gather together for a photo since COVID. Overall Ms. Hall's thoughts on the event were “ The week went well” and she stated that her plan is to make kindness week an event that happens every single year. That being said, Ms. Hall does not believe that the went was perfect. Answering the question of what she would do differently she responded “In the future, I would want the week to have events during nutrition and poster boards for advertisements/promotion. Also next year I would like to involve different clubs throughout the week”. Hopefully, SOCES can continue to celebrate kindness week next for the coming years and keep helping others to spread kindness.
