March 8th Music Festival
BY: DEREK AGUILAR AND DAVID KHACHATRYAN
On March 8, selected students from SOCES were invited to perform at the California School of Arts in Duarte, CA. These musicians have lots of experience and were very excited to perform for other people.
The students from SOCES that performed at the California School of Arts received the rating of two superiors and one excellent; superiors are the highest ranking to receive. To help us give insight into the experience of the Music Festival, 11th grader Pattarin Seayub explains her experience in the event. “ We played in the auditorium of the college. I was in the first oboe position and I think I played very well,” she said. Pattarin further explains that she received feedback from adjudicators. These people are highly experienced in the music field and suggest ways to improve. “I performed alongside other students in SOCES, but I didn’t stay very long. Once I was done, we all took pictures of the event and left fairly quickly”.
The event was a great experience for students to perform and gain feedback from those that have professional experience. It’s important to take what these talented students learned and apply it to their art. Good job to those that participated!
