It's that time of the year! That time when everyone is eager to find a prom date, a prom dress, get their hair and makeup appointments, get their nails done, the list goes on! So read along as we get the inside scoop on all the pre-prom preparations. Prom is a time when all the graduates can celebrate all their hard work throughout the years before they move on with their lives. This is the most anticipated event in a high school student's life. There is a lot to prepare for on this night. The key to a successful and stress-free prom is time management: to have everything in order the night before!

Head of the prom committee, Sona Chilyan stated, “In the beginning it was bumpy, finding a DJ and a venue. Once we had our options, we went ahead and visited our venue which is Sheraton Universal, and all the numbers added up along with the scenery which was a perfect fit. We started looking for decorations and started thinking about how we could make the room pop with color and designs. The theme was then debated, between enchanted forest or the Disney movie, Tangled. The decision was then made to combine the themes. Nights Under The Lanterns. We contacted Narine’s Events to help our vision come to life, and thankfully she was able to do that.” Sona would also like to add a huge thank you to the prom committee and Ms. Vassar and Ms. Fayngersh. Couldn’t have done it without their patience and support.

First and foremost, always plan your outfit months in advance, which a lot of students have done. Hair and makeup appointments should always be booked in advance because many schools have prom around the same time. Students should also figure out how they will get to prom. Many people rent luxury cars for the night and show up fashionably.

Pre-prom photos have to be planned out so you can get good pictures before you dance your hair and makeup away. Choose a scenic location with your friend group/date and have a parent or photographer take the pictures. After prom plans are always fun too. Late-night drives to in-n-out and to debrief the whole event.

Isabella Brusuzyan, a senior, was asked how she is preparing for this event: “Prom is this Sunday and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I have been preparing for prom by making my hair, makeup, and nail appointments for the event. I am excited to have fun and see who will win prom king and queen!”

Senior Mariam Torosyan, another senior, stated: “Prom is almost here and I couldn’t be more excited. I have been dreaming of this day since middle school and I can't believe it's finally happening. I have my hair and makeup appointments booked for that day, my gown is getting steamed and I'm ready for this unique high school experience.” This can be an overwhelming night for all, but remember to stay safe, think everything through, don’t do something you’ll regret for the rest of your life, and most importantly, have fun and make it a memorable experience.
