World's Finest Chocolate: SOCES Fundraiser for 30,000$!

By: Sean Chavez

This month, the student store is having a school-wide fundraiser for all grades to sell World’s Finest Chocolate and offers a variety of rewards for students who participate. Students who participate will expect to be given one variety pack to sell on February 13. The pack contains a variety of 30 bars of chocolate that will be sold for $2 each. The sale started Monday, February 12, and will go on until March 4.

The school's goal is to raise $30,000 and with each student participating they will only need to sell one case each. The money gained from the fundraiser will help to continue funding for school activities which will benefit the school, so it is important for as many possible students to participate.

Brad Shupps who works at the student store explained, “It's for the general student body. That means sporting events and anything for the student body to spend on for the school”.

The fundraiser is voluntary so students are not obligated to sell if they do not want to but those that do will receive prizes for doing so. Every case sold guarantees a scratch-off card in which students can win things such as student store snacks, spirit wear, and a SOCES hoodie. Students will also be given a chance to win a 5lb chocolate bar in a raffle.

Another exciting incentive for students to sell more cases is that the prizes get better as more cases are sold. For selling 2-9 cases students can win prizes such as more snacks, a pizza party, and SOCES spirit wear. As for students who sell 10 or more cases the prize is a free yearbook. Eighth graders can win either a free yearbook or a Grad night ticket. Seniors on the other hand can win either a free Grad night ticket or get both a free yearbook and prom ticket. The top seller overall will get to choose between a $200 gift card, Apple Airpods, or a Magic Mountain gold pass.

Students who want to continue selling more cases after selling one can go to the student store for more cases and give the money they’ve raised to the school either with cash or a check. For more information on the fundraiser, students can go to the student store where they will also have to turn in a permission slip if they decide to sell.
