The journey to creating SOCESmedia.com has been a long one, but we are excited to finally bring our school community a new and improved home for news, information, and everything happening at SOCES.
The idea behind SOCESmedia.com has always been simple: create one central place where students, parents, teachers, staff, and the greater school community can stay informed and connected. From campus news and student achievements to athletics, school events, opinion pieces, entertainment, and digital publications, we wanted to build a platform that reflects the energy, creativity, and accomplishments of our school.
While SOCESmedia.com has existed in the past, its original design and layout never quite lived up to what we envisioned. We knew the site had the potential to become something much more useful and engaging, but getting there would take time, patience, and plenty of work behind the scenes. The transition to our new hosting platform has given us a much better foundation to build upon, allowing us greater flexibility and the opportunity to create the kind of online publication our school deserves.
But this launch represents more than just a new website. SOCES Media itself is evolving. We are shifting our focus toward SOCESmedia.com as our primary platform for delivering news, stories, and information to the school community. This doesn’t mean saying goodbye to the publications that have been part of our identity. The Knight Times and The Round Table Magazine are here to stay, but their roles will be changing.
The Knight Times will be transitioning to a primarily digital format, allowing us to deliver news more frequently and reach readers wherever they are. We may still produce one or two special print editions each year. The Round Table Magazine, on the other hand, will continue to celebrate the people, experiences, and stories that make up the SOCES community. It will be published in print at least once each semester, giving us an opportunity to showcase the more creative, personal, and in-depth side of our school.
SOCESmedia.com will become the central hub that brings all of these efforts together. It will also give us a much better platform to showcase the outstanding work of our SOCES Broadcasting Team. From news broadcasts and video reports to interviews, features, and creative productions, the website will allow us to share more of the incredible video content being produced by our students.
Our goal isn’t simply to tell you what happened; it’s also to keep you informed about what’s coming up. We want SOCESmedia.com to be a place where you can look for upcoming events, important announcements, campus activities, and everything you need to know about what’s happening in our school community.
That said, there’s something important to keep in mind: SOCES Media is a student-run class. While we work hard to keep everyone informed, we don’t always receive the information we need in time to report on it as quickly as we’d like. Sometimes, the information simply doesn’t make its way to us until after an event has happened. That’s where you can help!
If you have news, announcements, upcoming events, or stories you’d like to see featured on the website, please reach out to us. You can email us at socesnewspaper@gmail.com or contact our advisor, Mr. Pak, directly at cxp2336@lausd.net. We welcome your contributions and want SOCESmedia.com to reflect the interests, accomplishments, and voices of our entire school community.
Of course, launching the new site doesn’t mean the work is finished. In many ways, it is just beginning! SOCESmedia.com will continue to evolve as we identify areas for improvement, work out the occasional bugs, and discover new sections and features that will make the site even more valuable to our readers. Our goal is to continually expand its content and make it a place the entire school community can turn to for the latest news, information, and entertainment.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked through the long process of bringing this project to life. Building a website of this size takes time, and we know there will still be adjustments along the way. We invite you to explore the site, check back often, and see how SOCES Media continues to grow and change.
This is more than a new website. It’s a new chapter for SOCES Media. Welcome to SOCESmedia.com!
