Screams echoed across campus as Sherman Oaks CES transformed into a Halloween nightmare on October 28 for the second annual Horror Knights. With six haunted houses, creepy games, and concessions, this year’s event was bigger than ever, giving students a night full of scares while raising money for many of the school’s clubs.
Created by ASB, Horror Knights started last year with just three haunted houses hosted by ASB, Tech Crew, and Gardening Club. This year, the event doubled in size, bringing in three more clubs: Hiking Club, ASL Club, and AVID.
Each club brought its own theme and style of scares. ASB took visitors through an abandoned hospital, while Tech Crew paid tribute to classic horror films. AVID transformed Glenn Hall into a “College of Creeps,” and Gardening Club explored the darker side of nature with “Evil Botany.” Hiking Club brought the outdoors into the fright with a haunted hike, while ASL Club created “A Silent Place,” inspired by the horror film A Quiet Place.
Beyond the haunted houses, students could also test their courage with scary games and stop by the concession stands. The event gave participating clubs a chance to raise money through the houses and booths they hosted, making Horror Knights one of the most successful fundraisers of the year.
What began as an ASB idea has quickly grown into a major SOCES tradition. With twice as many haunted houses as last year, the second annual Horror Knights showed what can happen when clubs across campus come together to create something bigger—and a lot scarier.
